Job Description
A Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting tasks, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. They play a key role in managing an organization’s financial health by recording transactions, preparing reports, and reconciling accounts.
Key Responsibilities
• Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records regularly.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Prepare invoices, monitor outstanding payments, and follow up on overdue accounts.
• Maintain and update general ledgers, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with payroll processing, including employee timesheets and tax deductions.
• Generate financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Monitor and manage budgets, providing insights on spending and saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in tax preparation and filing.
• Collaborate with accountants and auditors during financial reviews or audits.
Qualifications
• Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent (required); an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred).
• Certification in bookkeeping, such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or equivalent, is an advantage.
Work Environment
• May work in an office setting or remotely.
• Could involve part-time or full-time hours, depending on the organization’s needs.
