Job Overview
Your main duty will be to manage and oversee HR practices across the board and introduce workplace policies that ensure high productivity and fair and equitable compensation. You will be responsible for outlining corrective actions to solve workplace issues, such as poor employee relations or discrimination claims. In this role, we also expect you to establish sustainable recruitment policies and strategies for attracting and retaining experienced public health professionals. You will facilitate interviews between staff and applicants, while providing Executive Administrators, Board members, and Clinical staff with clear evaluation guidelines and excellency standards to ensure all applicants meet the desired criteria. Additionally, you will create an efficient onboarding framework for training new hires and volunteers. A Nonprofit Human Resources Manager is also responsible for conducting wage analysis to determine appropriate compensation categories for individual positions and ensuring they’re competitive. You will also review employees’ performance and develop training sessions as needed to increase productivity, reduce turnover, and boost employee morale and work satisfaction.
Duties
- Manage the full cycle of talent acquisition including recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
- Oversee employee orientation programs to ensure smooth integration into the company.
- Administer employee benefits programs and provide guidance on FMLA and workers’ compensation claims.
- Conduct employee evaluations and performance management processes to support staff development.
- Implement change management strategies to enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Maintain HRIS systems for accurate data entry and workforce management.
- Collaborate with management on strategic planning and organization design initiatives.
- Support affirmative action planning and succession planning efforts.
- Ensure compliance with employment & labor laws, OSHA regulations, and other relevant guidelines.
- Facilitate training & development programs to enhance employee skills and capabilities.
- Manage talent acquisition in our nonprofit organization by scheduling interviews, conducting pre-recruitment screening, and negotiating contracts, payroll and salaries
- Create, refine, and oversee the implementation of HR practices within the company to ensure high employee retention and work satisfaction
- Organize and conduct onboarding of new employees and volunteers through training sessions, orientations, and the distribution of informative materials
- Introduce workplace policies and communication channels that address employees’ and volunteers’ concerns and complaints, such as discrimination and harassment issues
- Monitor changing employment and compensation regulations to ensure all HR practices are legally compliant
- Collaborate with the management team to set out a fair and equitable compensation framework
- Conflict resolution processes and foster positive employee relations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressive management experience including executive level experience with a demonstrated track record of effectively leading an outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth.
- 3+ years of experience in HR, preferably as a retention or recruitment specialist
- Prior experience in a nonprofit administrative or secretary role
